What Is Neem Oil?
Neem oil is the extract of the leaves of the neem tree. The neem tree is scientifically known as Azidirachta Indica. Neem oil has been used for generations for various purposes. But, mainly it is known for its medicinal qualities. It possesses amazing antimicrobial as well as anti-parasitic qualities. Its anti-parasitic nature makes it an excellent candidate to remedy the head lice.

1. Neem Oil With Olive Oil

All you have to do mix some olive oil in the neem oil. Use this shampoo every time you wash your hair. Try to practice this two to three times a week to experience best results.
What You Will Need
- 2 ounces of olive oil
- 15 to 20 drops of Neem oil
- Shower Cap
What To Do
- Mix both the ingredients together and prepare a mixture.
- Apply the mixture to your scalp and to the entire length of your hair.
- Put on a shower cap and leave it overnight.
- In the morning, remove the cap and run lice comb through your hair to remove the lice.
- After you are done, shampoo your hair.
2. Neem Oil With Coconut Oil

For some, the smell of neem oil can be unbearable. Don’t worry, we have a solution for that too. All you have to do is, dilute the neem oil with some coconut oil and apply it to your scalp and hair in the regular fashion.
What You Will Need
- Neem oil
- Coconut oil
What To Do
- Mix a few drops of neem oil with some coconut oil.
- Apply this mixture to your scalp.
- Leave this mixture on for an hour and then shampoo your hair.
- Practice this in every three days.
3. Neem Oil With Sesame Oil

Sesame oil possesses anti-bacterial qualities and this is why it successfully eradicates the head lice when used with neem oil.
What You Will Need
- 1/4th Sesame oil
- Apple cider vinegar
- 1/8th cup of Neem oil
- 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil
- 10 drops of lavender oil
- Eucalyptus oil
- Rosemary essential oil
- Shower cap
What To Do
- Wash your hair with diluted apple cider vinegar and dry it.
- Now prepare a mixture with all the above ingredients and leave out the apple cider vinegar.
- Mix all the ingredients well.
- Apply the mixture to your scalp and work it through the length of the hair.
- Once the entire hair has been covered, put on the shower cap.
- Leave it on overnight.
- In the morning, rinse your hair with your regular shampoo.
- Practice it in every 3 days.
4. Neem Oil With Tea Tree Oil

Both tea tree oil and neem oil are known for their medicinal benefits. The property of both these oils is science-backed.
What You Will Need
- Neem oil
- Tea tree oil
- Lavender oil
- Spray bottle
What To Do
- For this remedy, you need to mix 1 part of tea tree oil with 4 parts of neem oil.
- Now add, a few drops of lavender oil to the mixture.
- Store this mixture in a spray bottle and use as and when required.
Precautionary Tips
Here are a few precautionary tips to avoid allergies, infections and side-effects.
- Make sure you are not allergic to neem by doing a patch test beforehand.
- Practice the remedies regularly for visible results.
- Try to avoid head to head contact as lice spread very easily from one person to another.
- Make sure to wash your belongings like bed sheets, towels, clothes, etc on a regular basis.
- Clean your hair accessories regularly.
- Repeat the remedies regularly to get rid of new lice as well.
- And to make sure that you do not catch the lice again in future, it is safe to practice the remedies every once in a while.
