Homemade Recipes for Cleaning Gas Stove
1. Baking Soda Paste

Ingredient(s)
Baking soda
How to Use
Firstly, wash the burners with plain water to do away with the initial layer of dirt. Then, make a thick paste of baking soda and water. Cover all the burners with this paste and let it sit for around 20 minutes. Scrub away the softened residue of food or grease and then rinse thoroughly.

2.Vinegar for Burner

Ingredient(s)
Vinegar
How to Use
This is more of a regular measure. All you have to do is spray vinegar on all burners on a regular basis (even daily if you wish). Simply wipe off with a clean cloth. This is especially helpful because vinegar will keep clearing grease, dirt, and residue before they get a chance to settle in.
3.Vegetable or Olive Oil

Ingredient(s)
- Vegetable or olive oil
- All-purpose cleaner (here is a list of all natural home cleaning brands)
How to Use
Simply put a little oil on the stains and scrub them clean. Follow up by using an all-purpose cleaner to get rid of the oiliness.
4. Soap and Water

Ingredient(s)
Soap and water
How to Use
Dab a piece of clean cloth in a mixture of soap and water. Directly scrub on the residues. If something is too thick and won’t come off, use baking soda paste as discussed previously.

6. Dish Soap and Baking Soda for Drip Pans

Ingredient(s)
- Dish soap
- Baking soda
How to Use
Drip pans are pie-shaped, steel cutouts that are placed under the burner. They help collect food or any other dripping residue which would otherwise fall through the sides of the burner to the bottom of the stove.
For this, mix equal parts of baking soda and dishwashing soap in a bowl to obtain a consistent, foamy mixture. Scrub this mixture on the drip pans to remove dirt and residue. If something does not come off easy, pour this mixture into zipper-top plastic bags and immerse the drip pans in it for some time. Scrub off later, and you get clean pans.
7. Using Razor Scraper

Tool(s)
Scraper
How to Use
For very tough, hard-to-remove stains, use a scrapper. Place it at an angle over the residue and scrape expertly while taking care not to exert excessive force. Otherwise, you might scratch the stove top. After the hard stains have been chipped away, the rest of the stains can be removed using any of the other methods.
Things to Avoid while Cleaning Stove
- NEVER spray liquid cleaners on a hot stove. Let the stove completely cool down because the difference in temperature can affect your unit in a bad way and is especially bad for the glass surface. In worst cases, the glass surface might crack or break.
- DO NOT let water or vinegar touch your igniters or electric connections. They can corrode the insides which will ultimately damage the heating capacity. Anything metal can be cleaned, but one needs to pay extra attention when cleaning around electric connections and igniters.
- Do not use foils as an alternative to drip pans. They never work and can in turn damage the stove.
Stove Cleaning Guidelines
- When you start cleaning, take a paper towel or damp cloth to first wipe off loose crumbs or easily removable residue. An even better option is to wipe off the stove after every time you cook.
- Keep cleaning your stove regularly to avoid build-up. Cleaning the burners can also regulate the gas usage and make them last longer.
- Before turning to scrapers or scrubbers, let a cleaner sit on the stains for a while so that they loosen up and get removed with a cloth, without needing to use a scraper which can scratch the surface.
- Use the right cleaner for the right task.
